WORKPLACE ENGLISH

English courses for businesses and other organizations

Two hours per day/Two days per week for eight weeks

Using a student-centered approach and multi-media materials, students will acquire communicative competence through vocabulary development, practical conversations, practical grammar, as well as through authentic listening and speaking rehearsals. To determine knowledge and skill gains, the instructor will give reviews, weekly assessments, and a post test.

To allow maximum interactivity and give students ample individualized attention, the enrollment is limited to ten students per class.

Prerequisites

  • Preliterate: Desire to learn. Literacy in native language is desirable.
  • Beginner: Ability to recognize and write the English alphabet.
  • Intermediate: Ability to speak, read and write basic English sentences.
  • High Intermediate: Ability to speak, read, and write compound English sentences.

WorkplacePlus

The WorkplacePlus English course equips workers with sufficiency skills needed in three-primary areas: workplace, community, and home. These three areas are included as they have immediate relevance needed to maintain interest and make appropriate application in these settings. The course is available for preliterate, beginning, high beginning, intermediate, and high-intermediate level language learners.

Occupation-Specific WorkplacePlus

The occupation-specific course prepares workers for a special career while integrating relevant workplace, community, and home topics. These three areas are included as they have immediate relevance needed to maintain interest and make appropriate application in servid and industry settings. The course is available for high beginner, intermediate and high-intermediate level language learners.

Fundamentals of International Business Communication

This course covers the following communication areas: Telephoning, working together, international trade, dealing with problems, marketing, meeting, and sales and negotiation. The audio and video materials for this course will keep students engaged and facilitate their developing skills fundamental to daily business life.
